Infiniti says it's bringing a new QX Monograph concept to Monterey Car Week this month, and it's just one of numerous debuts slated for the event. Debuting on August 17, the new concept will serve as a preview for the future of Infiniti design, though the angular grille shown in the teaser image suggests that this may be a sneak peek of the redesigned QX80 flagship SUV.
Infiniti calls the concept's design "dramatic," and that it "boldly signals the evolution of INFINITI design." The brand says it will feature distinctive proportions and "striking design elements" that include an evolved double-arched grille and "digital piano key" lighting. This description sounds very similar to the QX80 prototypes that have been recently spotted, with the upright grille displayed in the teaser image bearing strong resemblance to the camouflaged SUVs. The concept will also feature Infiniti's updated logo, which now curves inward into the grille to represent an infinite road.
As for the production QX80 that will eventually follow the concept, changes on the outside will be evolutionary. Lighting units are expected to adopt a trendier split design, along with flush door handles and a revised greenhouse. Inside, reports have ambitiously claimed that the interior of the new QX80 will be comparable to the Mercedes-Maybach GLS, though we doubt the big Infiniti will become a Maybach rival anytime soon. It's said to feature a large 24-inch display that houses dual 12-inch screens, which will serve as the digital instrument cluster and main infotainment system. The QX80 might gain another touchscreen for the climate controls as well, and the SUV will be the first Infiniti to have Nissan's ProPilot Assist 2.0 hands-free driving system. The next QX80 should arrive for the 2025 model year, with a much heftier starting price of over $100,000.
Alongside the QX Monograph, Infiniti says it will display quarter-scale design models from Nissan's archives. These models are said to have been unknown to the public, with some featuring "Skyline design references." Joining the concept on the actual display floor will be the QX60, Q50 Red Sport, and Q50 Black Opal Edition.
